Maggie, the warm guide behind Before You Donate ItMaggie
Before You Donate It

A familiar, reassuring guide

Hello, I'm Maggie.

I help families pause before an old object disappears into a donation box. Sometimes the answer is valuable. Sometimes it is simply useful. Either way, you deserve a clear answer—not hype.

“I will tell you what the evidence supports, what remains uncertain, and when an in-person specialist is the wiser next step.”

Simple by design

Three steps. No auction-house intimidation.

  1. 1

    Choose your bundle

Start with one item or send a small group from the same drawer or cabinet.

  2. 2

    Send the right photographs

We give you a short checklist so the identifying details are clear.

  3. 3

    Receive your Second Look

A plain-English report with evidence, confidence, and practical next steps.

Your personal report

Useful answers, without the antique-store fog.

We separate what can be supported from what still needs an in-person specialist. You will always know how confident the finding is and why.

A clear boundary

This is research guidance—not a formal appraisal.

Maggie's Second Look provides educational, AI-assisted identification and market research reviewed for clarity and relevance. It is not authentication, a certified appraisal, or advice for insurance, tax, estate, lending, or legal purposes. Values can change and cannot be guaranteed. When the evidence calls for specialist handling, we will say so plainly.

Plain-English service terms

What happens after you pay.

Delivery

Your written Second Look is normally emailed within 3–5 business days after we receive the complete photographs, measurements, and background information needed to begin.

You may request a full refund before research begins. Once personalized research has begun, purchases are generally non-refundable. If we determine that we cannot provide a useful Second Look from the material supplied, we will refund the purchase.

Your photographs and personal details are used to provide the service and answer support questions. We will not publish your photographs or story without your written permission.

Scope

Results are educational research guidance, not authentication or a certified appraisal. Identification and value ranges may remain uncertain, and no sale price is promised or guaranteed.

Common questions

Before you send it.

What kinds of objects can I send?

Household antiques and collectibles such as glass, china, silverware, jewelry, lamps, linens, small furniture, decorative objects, and vintage kitchenware.

What if you cannot identify it?

You will receive the most defensible possibilities, the limits of the evidence, and the next photographs or specialist steps most likely to resolve it.

How do I send photographs after paying?

Your Stripe confirmation page will show Maggie's email address. Email your photo set to beforeyoudonateit@proton.me and include the name used at checkout.

When does the delivery window begin?

The typical 3–5 business day delivery goal begins once we have received a complete submission. If a crucial photograph or measurement is missing, we will ask for it before research begins.

What is the refund policy?

You may request a full refund before personalized research begins. Once research has begun, purchases are generally non-refundable. If we cannot provide a useful Second Look from the supplied material, we will refund the purchase.

Do you buy or sell the objects?

No. Maggie's Second Look does not buy your item and does not earn a commission on what you decide to do with it.

Is this suitable for insurance or an estate?

No. Those uses require an appropriately qualified, independent appraiser who can inspect the object and provide a formal report.
